    customizing screens

    Hi,

I have just downloaded startup version to see if this program will fit all my needs. I am very interested in the customization abilities but I am having some issues...

When I enter the designer and choose the Customer info screen to customize, a different screen (more input fields) appears then the one in the accounting program itself.

How do I add and delete fields on the customer screen as I do not need all the ones supplied and require some that are not included?

Can I rename the tabs inside the customer screen? or modify the input field names?

How do I save these changes so they show up in the accounting progam?

Are there any other tutorials available to learn this program?

Except for these minor stumbling blocks, I am very impressed by many parts of this program. I run a specialized business that requires more than what most other programs provide. We plan to invest in the basic version soon - wil all my customizations from the start up edition translate into the new one? Will the rest of my data transfer to the Basic?

Thank you for your help ...

    Re: customizing screens

    Hi,

It's not possible to add/remove/rename controls on system screen. On system screen, you can only add actions on different events of all controls in the screen. If you want more controls on your customers screen, the way to do that is by adding an extended screen. Extended screen is attached to its parent screen and you can do what you want in custom screen.

To see your changes in Dynacom Accounting, you need to apply them when you are in Designer (menu File / Apply changes).

To help you, you have the Blog, current forum and the help.

Finally, for you last question, there is no problem to migrate your startup's data/customization to basic edition, there is an automatic process.

    Best regards,

    Re: customizing screens

Thank you for those answers ...

Part of the issue is that in the designer, the customer info screen and expense screen are different then the ones in the startup edition. I have tried using the designer but I am wondering if there are limitations on the designer in the startup edition? SHould I wait to customize until we move up? and will those custom screens also transfer to the higher version?

I run a pet care company and would like to add custom screens to the customer database to track each clients pets, the services they each need, vet info, etc.

I would like to be able to then see reports of this info as well.

Is that possible with this version of the software?

    Re: customizing screens

There are no limitations in the designer in startup edition. The screens are differents between Dynacom and Designer because in Designer you see the screen in its real mode, with all controls that the screen host. In Startup edition, we hide many of this controls, because it's a free edition, but we hide controls only in Dynacom, not in Designer.

Like I wrote, there is no limitations, so you can create your own screens, dataobjects and reports.
